Thirty-six chief petty officer selectees throughout the Northwest region came to the Ivy Green Cemetery Aug. 28 as part of their CPO induction.

Ivy Green holds the ‘Tomb of the Unknown Soldier’ along with other various fallen veterans and as an honor to those that have fallen the CPO selectees cleaned their grave sites. The selectees spent the entire afternoon power washing, weed whacking, and tediously removing the dirt and grime, built up throughout the years, from the headstones.

Senior Chief Information Systems Technician Theodore Riley took it upon himself to head this project. “We’re here to restore dignity back to these headstones that have been forgotten. In all reality there is no difference between the graves. We’re here to clean every one of them,” said Riley.
