Aug 23: Portland NL Maritime Tour Astoria

Portland MaritimeOn Friday, Aug. 23 Portland Navy League Council  is offering a tour of Astoria maritime sites to include 1) USCG Navigation Aids Station at Tongue Point, 2) Columbia River Bar Pilots Station, and after lunch, 3) group tour of the Columbia Maritime Museum. We will meet at the USCG Station at Tongue Point, Astoria/Navigation Aids Building to learn about the buoy and electronic navigation systems in our area, then go to the Bar Pilots Station to hear about this dangerous profession and look at their pilot boats. After a lunch break (on your own), will meet at the Maritime Museum for a docent guided tour of one of the best maritime museums in the world! Even if you have been there within the last few years the displays are constantly changing. You are welcome to stay as long as you want to visit the museum and the Columbia lightship at their dock.
