USS_Momsen_DDG-92_CrestSEATTLE — Vigor Shipyards of Seattle has been awarded a $33 million contract to repair and alter the destroyer USS Momsen.

The USS Momsen, which is based at Naval Station Everett, is at a point in its life cycle where it needs work to its systems and hull that can’t be done when it’s waterborne.

Work will be performed in Seattle and is expected to be completed by October. Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility is the contracting activity.

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer was commissioned in August 2004.
