Larry SalterPresidents Corner:

Hello Navy Leaguers. It has been a busy October—many of us attended the Navy Ball, the Submarine Squadron 19 Change of Command, toured Joint Base Lewis McChord, and we welcomed the new Regional Commander at the October luncheon.

The Veterans Day Celebration is on Tuesday November 11th at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds—hope you are planning to attend. This is probably the largest Veterans Day remembrance in the State and it is an impressive event.

Because November 11th falls on the second Tuesday of the Month, we will be moving our luncheon to the next day, Wednesday the 12. As has been our tradition, we will celebrate the Marine Corps birthday at the November Luncheon—come see the parade of historical USMC uniforms and listen to our Guest Speaker, Lt Col Stephen Keane.

We have a new slate of officers for next year which we announced at the October luncheon—Tim Katona is returning as President, Kevin Torcolini and Bob Lamb are the Vice Presidents and we have three returning officers—Treasurer Dave Ellingson, Secretary Ruth Bond, and Judge Advocate George Rose. Thank you all for volunteering to run the Board and Council for 2015.

I had the pleasure of attending VADM Bill French’s Change of Command and Retirement Ceremony on 24 October at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. VADM French turned over his position as Commander, Navy Installations Command to VADM Dixon Smith. Dave and Alice Thomas were other NW Navy Leaguers in attendance. Bill and Monika were big supporters of Navy League during his time as Navy Region NW—he was also the Armed Forces Day Parade Grand Marshall and Gala Guest Speaker two years ago. Post retirement planning as not gotten past buying a motor home and planning on a very long motor home trip around the United States.

Thank you for all you do to support Navy League, Larry
