Oct 22: Tour of Safe Boats

Safe Boats Floor
Event  – Tour of the SAFE boats manufacturing facilities at BOTH Port of Bremerton, as well as Tacoma, where they build the larger boats for the Navy.  We have never had the privilege of going to the Tacoma factory.
Date – Oct 22  Morning tour the facility near the Bremerton Airport, then lunch at the Airport Diner, then afternoon tour of the Tacoma facility
When- Meet at Noon in front of the Safe Boats Flagpole
Where – Safe Boats Facility at the Bremerton Airport, 8800 SW Barney White Rd, Bremerton, WA 98312
When- at 1:30 PM Tacoma Large Craft Production Facility
Where – (401 E Alexander Way, building 326)
Requirements – Tour limited to 20 people, so make your plans concrete.  If you sign up, be sure to show up for the tour.  They are checking on what security info will be needed and a further email will follow, but we already have been told that all participants must be US citizens.

Safe Boars Ferry 25_ft_DefenderSafe Boats International builds rapid response craft at their facility at the Bremerton Airport. SAFE Boats is a major supplier to the U.S. Coast Guard’s (USCG) small boats fleet. The USCG uses SAFE vessels for diverse missions including homeland security, patrol, maritime law enforcement, marine environmental protection, search and rescue, and aids to navigation.
Safe Boat Mk VIIn addition to SAFE Boats’ facilities located in Bremerton, vessels larger than 44-feet are produced in their Large Craft Production Facility (LCPF), located in the Port of Tacoma, Washington. Originally developed to build ships for the US Navy during WWII , the LCPF provides production space as well as house offices for administration, engineering, operations and service personnel directly supporting large craft production. The facility provides ideal location to produce, launch, test and support large craft.
