Bremerton Navy League Adopts PCU Washington SSN-787

Last week the Bremerton Olympic Peninsula were honored to host a namesake visit of five crew members from the Precommissioning crew of the USS Washington SSN-787 which is under construction at Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipyard in Newport News VA. They were making their first visit to Washington State on a familiarization tour.

The NLUS Bremerton/Olympic Peninsula Council, in partnership with several other NLUS councils across the State, has assumed a leadership role in the new ship’s Commissioning Committee chaired by RADM Mike Sharp, USN (ret). The crew was officially adopted by the Bremerton/Olympic Peninsula Council in a short ceremony at the luncheon, in which Council President, Tim Katona, and Council Board Adopted Submarine Liaison, Byron Faber, presented Commanding Officer, CDR Jason Schneider, and Chief of the Boat, ITSCM(SS) Adam Burchette, a signed adoption certificate that all four signed at the podium.
