The competition stated 41 years ago as a Chili Cookoff for submarine cooks in the morning of the Armed Forces Day Parade. It has expanded to it’s own day long event. Military Teams come from all over the state. (Naval Base Kitsap, Naval Base Everett, Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Naval Hospital Bremerton, USS Ohio, USS Michigan, USS Kentucky, USS Louisiana, USS Henry M Jackson). They have judged competitions in Ribs, Chili, Table Garnishment, Desserts Chicken wings and Hor D’Oeuvers. In addition they have a Battling Chefs competition.
This year 8 teams had to make something with these ingredients: Squid Steak, Rack of Lamb, Artichokes, Brussel Sprouts, Eggplant, and Sweet Potatoes.
