Presidents Corner July 2018

Happy Fourth of July. We are half way through the year.

Where has the time gone!!

There was a great turnout for the Memorial Day observance onboard the USS Turner Joy. LtCol Tinson, Commanding Officer of the Marine Corps Security Force Bangor, gave an inspiring address about the legacy of our past service members. We then laid a wreath in the water to commemorate those that have given their lives for our country.

We were honored to have Lt Gov Habib as our speaker for our June luncheon. He also represented the State of Washington at the Commissioning of the USS Washington last Oct. He spoke about the value military people and spouses bring to the state and about the value of education. His words were inspiring.

June was the Navy League National Convention in Portland. Larry Salter, Alan Beam and I attended on behalf of our Council. The Council was awarded a plaque, honoring us as a Meritorious Council, one of the top 10% of the Navy League councils. Although my name is on it, the real work and the person that deserves the accolades is Alan Beam. It was his leadership and the councils hard work that won the award.

Well done Alan.
