CO NBK Capt Alan Schrader, NL Pres Steve Westover, CO Vinson Capt Matthew Paradise and Bremerton Mayor Greg Wheeler celebrate the arrival of the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70).
The Bremerton Olympic Peninsula Navy League Council hosted an Arrival Reception for USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) last night at NBK Bremerton Sam Adams Club. Vinson has begun preparations for dry-docking overhaul at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
During the reception we got a chance to meet the Commanding Officer Captain Matthew Paradise. Captain Paradise is a Tacoma Washington Native. He entered the Navy as an Enlisted Navy SEAL and was selected for the Enlisted Commissioning program. Paradise graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1992. Following Flight training he flew FA-18 aircraft.
USS Carl Vinson was homeported in Bremerton from the Shutdown of NAS Alameda in 1997 until she departed for refueling overhaul in 2005.
The Bremerton Navy League is hosting a Public Arrival Reception at 5:30 on Friday Feb 15. The ceremony will be held at the Kitsap Conference Center third deck Marine Room. This will be a chance for the community to come out and welcome the USS Carl Vinson.
