May 27 : USS Turner Joy Memorial Day Ceremony

The public is invited to commemorate Memorial Day by attending a ceremony on the fantail of the historic destroyer USS TURNER JOY.  Beginning at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 27th, the event will feature the playing of the National Anthem while the local sea cadet squadron parades the colors, taps, a rifle salute and remarks from a local active-duty Marine Sergeant Major, followed by the annual laying of the memorial wreath to remember our fallen.  The event is sponsored by the Bremerton-Olympic Peninsula Council of the US Navy League, and the council’s President, Tom Zwolfer, will serve as the master of ceremonies.

The USS TURNER JOY is located on the downtown Bremerton waterfront.  Parking is available at the Kitsap Conference Center near the Bremerton Ferry Terminal.  Coffee and donuts will be provided following the ceremony on board the ship in the crew’s mess.
